Certainly with the exception of Its bigger brother the G Class, for obvious reason look for past article on Mercedes Benz G Class Accessories.

Mercedes Benz C Class almost revolutionized Benz character to follow its rivalry’s dynamic driving machinery, the BMW. It helps the marketing sales target at the cost of Benz purist who puts reliability traits above all. The evidence is quite bewildering, a large number of newer Benz taxi has spent more time in the workshop than the W124 counterparts, it is a harsh reality that most German taxi drivers facing then.

When the heavy seasonal flood hampers most of Jakarta and into a parked W124 in a private garage, it only requires wiping off the excess water and moisture. As the ECU is kept in a water tight compartment the car starts off immediately with no problem at all.

It’s the classic consumer behavior dictated by Manufacturer in the long run strategy! Technology-wise the computer is now in charge for the most parts of driving functions; combustion process, the controlled stability and other enhanced driving comforts and conveniences. Including individual driving style, motorized trunk access and lastly perhaps rendering careful battery replacement; the buffer memory stored for ignition mapping. Replacing battery without caution may result the car to refuse to operate.

Imagine turning the ignition key with the new battery, but the car could not run whatsoever unless the “engineer” not the mechanic puts the memory back on! The automotive wiring now boasts a system called Bus system allowing digital signal and DC current flows in an efficient manner unlike the system it has replaced. Less wiring length is required as it used to be, but analyzing electrical glitches requires specialized know how and dedicated training for each model and car brand. You should literary never allow a monkey attitude mechanic to browse your engine bay, unless you have expected for the worst.
And here is one good example of allowing a monkey tinkering your car electrical, the whole wiring gets a remarkable burning state. Now this Mercedes Benz C Class is in comatose albeit worthless vegetable car; Mercedes Benz C Class a Forgone Over Engineered Era

The good news is other C Class owner gets excellent donor car for affordable cannibal part resources!

Mercedes Benz Warranty

Granted that the AMG is the sole authorized Mercedes Performance Parts where modifying the three pointed stars to the super car level does not ruin its Mercedes Benz Warranty, yet some people still seek out to the relentless additional performance modifications. Though it is ridiculous driving a powerful Benz without safety precautions or else upgrade to a mere street type ceramic brake pad for those mild alterations.

For cosmetic purposes; though this may not be justifiable few owners completely altered their old Benz to the latest exterior appearance and many will only add extra accessories, as the majority of Benz purist is keeping theirs as original as possible; for original look of Mercedes G Wagen look no further than my past articles and lastly as an example on body alterations, a 1985 W124 300E had been transformed into 1995 320E “Master Piece” stylebrag, Leisure-Drive, Oct 2009
You should read the whole article. Presumably the mild alteration would only bump within additional 30% more horsepower, some may have been achieved by installing free flow inlet and outlet means; such as fitting recommended AMG Mercedes Performance Parts on air induction and exhaust as well as a bit of tinkering on Remapping engine management. Yet it would be recommendable to also consult Brabus, Carlsson, Lorinser and so forth... you get the idea!
Getting close to the additional 30% horsepower ought to involve some sort of Forced Induction Modification on reasonably low pressure from 8 - 12 Psi boosting pressure.

The latest engine management could cope with the requirements while retaining high compression from the standard OEM reciprocating internal engine parts, though remapping is still essential work to avoid disastrous engine knock problems.

The point is for precaution safety measures upgrading better braking pad is generally acceptable with also upgrading Performance Gas Shock breaker and Low Profile Tires (55 is adequate) to achieve not only improvement in the area of traction but braking as well.

Yet most people would immediately opt for good looking appearances by fitting the Low Profile Tires which subsequently requires height lowering that translate fitting such as 4 NEW 225/40-18 Nitto NT 555 Tires ,Koni SPORT Yellow Adjustable Sport Shocks combined with Eibach Lowering Kit, and please check for each model fitment suitability!

You do not even need to replace the set of Shock Absorbers, in fact fitting the Lowering Kit alone should be adequate but since labour cost would be the same involving removal and installation of the system it is wise indeed to replace the whole set.

If cost is critical any good brand gas Shock Absorbers is good enough, as I do not honestly think you are speed demon anyway. Unless if you are into track regularly then you might consider otherwise.

The Lowering Kit will transform better looking stance by decreasing the height and consequently improve the car center of mass gravity which in turn provide sharper handling. The ride would not suffer a lot though a bit firmer as it is designed as a Progressive Coil.

Mercedes Aftermarket Parts

Mercedes Aftermarket Parts : brand new vs classic modern

No one argues that AMG provides one of the best of Mercedes Performance Parts inhouse, yet few may be privileged enough to drive AMG Benz where as the majority will have to resort to merely upgrading older or even classic Benz such those belonging to W124, W123 or perhaps antiquatted W108.

I have seen a W124 is built upon 1980s Toyota Crown's platform, and it was such fantastic job that the only clue of original car reveals itself when you open the hood. If you would like to read the article you might as well head to the above link, now this article will dwell further complimenting into great detail and should the need arise we could have a series of articles in the near future. This wrecked E Class is a good donor for those enthusiast upgrading their W124.

The obvious reason to present modifications upon older car and inparticular Mercedes Benz is that they are much more durable and reliable than the recent models, especially the least expensive C class models. And here is the quotation from their owners from MercedesForum reflecting the gremlin on 2005 C240 W202:

There were two faults, and both a design fault with Mercedes M111 engines the first one was the cam shaft sensor, connection lead, as it had cracked and the fitments were loose, causing poor connection, and secondly there is a wire gauge under the throttle valve, this was contaminated with a combination of dirt and oil from the engine breath pipe, ......

along with a thick band of carbon around the edge of the throttle valve, both were restricting the air flow into the engine, both faults have now been rectified, and performance and fuel consumption is excellent, ( I have been advised that the timing chain will need replacing as there is a slight rattle at low engine speed,

(P.S I did not know Mercedes also did a free transmission oil check as well).

...another...gremlin

When I replaced the MAF the performance was like new, pick up and kick-down was great, Recently performance has dropped off, and fuel consumption has got silly, and occasionally my Mercedes will run on two cylinders, (if I pull over and re-start the car it will run ok for a few miles before it happens again) I am really stressed about this and can anyone shed any light on this problem.
This sounds like our E300 problem in the past with fuel supply relay in the past. The W124 was simply refuse to move despite of its seemed normal running engine, every half an hour the car was loosing the power but as soon as it cooled down around ten minutes it ran faultlessly. Yet it was countless stop and go at a 120 kms long stretch of highway toll.

The Benz authorized workshop suggested a dozen replacements parts including all six injectors which running at its 70% capacity, it might be the culprit but what happen when it did that silly things? As we declined such suggestion and following instinctive electrical glitch they only replaced the relay at a cost of 80 bucks, and it ran beautifully until now.

Mercedes Benz G Class Accessories

Your G-Wagen needs loving care attention.
